Let's talk about dementia in Canada

Dementia Talks! Canada

In Dementia Talks! Canada, a new partnership between the Alzheimer Society of Canada and Brain Canada, learn more about dementia in Canada through a collection of topic-focused conversations!

In each digital discussion featured in this webinar series, you'll get to know more about a particular issue. Through a Dementia Talk, you'll find out about:

  • What the latest research is saying about the topic;
  • What resources and supports are available to help you or someone you know; and
  • How people living with dementia, their care partners and their families are being affected by the topic – including their tips and insights for how to manage and live well.

And there's no registration fee! Each Dementia Talk is free to attend. As well, each webinar will have French language interpretation available

Raise your awareness through a variety of topics

Dementia is one of the most commonly diagnosed diseases in Canada – right now, it's estimated that there are more than 500,000 people living with dementia in Canada alone, and 1 in 5 Canadians have experience caring for a person living with dementia. So there's a lot to talk about with dementia!

Some of the topics you can learn about through a Dementia Talk include:

  • The personal stories and research related to young onset dementia (when dementia is diagnosed under the age of 65);
  • The unique experiences – and challenges – of people living with dementia who identify as two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and/or other gender identities, expressions and sexual orientations;
  • COVID-19 and the pandemic's impact on people living with dementia in Canada;
  • How assistive devices and the latest technologies can make dementia support easier; and
  • Much, much more!

Hear from the experts

Each Dementia Talk will feature a variety of panellists from a variety of different backgrounds, experiences and insights related to dementia.

Each panellist is an expert on dementia in their own way – whether they are conducting dementia research, providing support for people affected by dementia or have direct lived experience as a person living with dementia, care partner or family member.

Get the answers you need to know

Do you have a question about a particular issue related to dementia? Each Dementia Talk will have a Question & Answer Session at the end.

It's a great opportunity to speak directly to an expert and find out what kind of knowledge and support can help you!
